Evergreen Funds for the Everyday Investor
Politicians, practitioners, and the financial rags are awash with worry and wonder about increasing access to private markets for the everyday investor. Thus far, the conversation has been a mixed bag, one part problem seeking rather than solution oriented and another part rational worries about investor protections. The upshot is a dramatic amount of confusion for the everyday investor.
In this video we level set and try to achieve two goals: (1) demystify the jargon around evergreen funs, and (2) point out a dramatic mismatch between what the everyday investor thinks access to private markets means and what the current 40 Act wrappers are able to deliver. We hope this video is a small step towards helping politicians, practitioners and the financial rags reset the conversation in a more plain-english manner.
The TLDR? When the everyday investor thinks of getting access to private markets, they are not thinking about getting access to a private company's debt.
